Elevating the patient experience at Darwin Dental with exterior signage and build-up illuminated lettering

The challenge: An interior and exterior signage overhaul 

Based in northeast Cambridge, Darwin Dental required a high-end exterior and interior signage package that would reflect the medically advanced, personalised, relaxed nature of their practice. The installation presented significant technical hurdles: creating dimensional, halo-lit metal lettering for the reception area, mounting custom exterior panels securely and routing complex electrical wiring so that not a single cable would be visible. 

The solution: ACM panels and aluminium illuminated lettering  

We engineered a comprehensive, custom signage strategy tailored to Darwin Dental’s layout, as well as its commitment to compassionate dental care: 

• Exterior signage: We fabricated and installed a bespoke sign tray, powder-coated in the brand’s colours and complete with a cut white vinyl logo to the face. We then fashioned panels from brushed stainless steel Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) and applied colour-specific, print-and-cut vinyl graphics that matched the clinic’s existing brand identity. Depending on the wall surface, panels were bonded using industrial adhesive or mechanically secured with flush screws and caps.  

• Interior reception signage: We produced custom aluminium face letters with a brushed stainless-steel finish, electroplated in brass. To achieve a soft, back-lit glow, each letter was fitted with an opal acrylic back panel and internal LEDs. The letters were then mounted to the reception wall using two-stage adhesive, threaded steel rods, and brass spacers to create dimension and depth. 

• Seamless wiring: To ensure a clean aesthetic, every individual letter’s electrical cable was fed directly through the reception wall into the office behind. All wiring was neatly organised within concealed ABS trunking and wired up to a hidden transformer.
